Thing on Wall

This thing was on the kitchen wall of the cabin I stayed at in Portland, Or. Nobody really knew what exactly it was, but we all had fun trying to figure it out. I'll try to describe it. It was similar to a pencil sharpener with a crank on the side but it had cranks on both sides. When you turned the crank the wheel with the 7 different wooden balls at the ends would spin around similar to a fan with balls instead of blades. Our best guess was a stomach massager since it was placed on the wall about that height. In no way did it feel good on my stomach. I decided to turn around and use it on my back but the balls were placed as such to where they just bumped my spine instead of massaged my muscles. Also, having to turn the crank while turned around was a bit awkward and uncomfortable. I decided that this thing was terribly designed because you cant instantly recognize what it was for. Also, if it were used for what we thought it was used for (stomach massaging) it still failed the good design stamp for lack of comfort. To make this design better i would have used something softer on the end. The crank works well but I feel it would have been better used for a can opener with some sort of different attachment on the end.
